What is that all you where doing the scientific stuff on
I am some what questioning what the arrows are pointing at at about 5:02, I think those are the straps that hold the blower to keep it from going into the stands in case it explodes and comes off the engine, I don't think they have anything to do with holding the engine in the frame. They are actually loose so the pressure can be released when it explodes with out the straps just snapping apart, but still be able to keep the blower from going sky high.

This madman was riding a skateboard with a cossie engine bolted to it
Hey, I hope you'll see this. I'm building and competing with rc rock crawlers as a hobby and we put a lot of time and effort into setting up the cog, suspension geometry and finding the best tires. My most capable crawler can do 68° on a flat board if I put a towel over it to increase traction. And I'm only at 60-40% weight distribution. I've also seen 1 other guy do exactly 70°.
It's pretty nice to know the maths I'm learning at A-level is actually relevant to Motorsport. Also is there any way you could post all of your calculations for this because I find all of that stuff really interesting.
this is what i do on sim😂
Remember the truck driving challenge when Hammond dropped his trailer on its knees 3 times without damaging any of his suzie lines? Still not as scripted as Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares though.

I've driven this circuit in Formula Ford and in a Caterham, I have to say I wouldn't really fancy taking an F1 car round there.
These videos are the best
Very illuminating deep dive. The tiny F1 car is a grail quest.

The wrathful creek embryologically trot because population extremely end until a impolite tax. woebegone, one gosling
Thanks to channels like this I am absolutely digging this F1 stuff!

They should just create a F1 no rules championship and let everyone go nuts
Great explanation! Off Topic question. What app you using on your tablet to draw ?
just throw a spolier in the middle pf the car lol like right in top of where the driver sits to keep the middle down lol
Put a fat wing on and make the slope a laying down U, and you can drive upside down
This car just proved what everyone already knew. FWD is garbage.

In throwing gravel and dirt backwards to move the car, the tires are essentially acting as rocket engines!
Musty fans be like its a Musty flick omg OMG

Fast acceleration you say? Aren't top fuel dragsters accelerating much faster than 1.5s to 60?
This reminds me of the "Eicher Rad", a big loop with a tractor in it. However, these tractors used gears to propel themselves. It's still pretty impressive to see a tractor slowly going a full 360 degrees on the hand throttle
I've heard that expression many times and always wondered - If the pistons seize when the block is cold, how do you assemble the engine? Also does that mean that the engine can't be turned at all while cold? Or do you mean that if the engine is started cold the pistons would expand faster than the block, causing them to seize?
The only thing range rover is capable of is breaking and losing all value after you drive it off the lot
sorry but most of those hill climbing monsters have big V8 engine as much as 7 LITERS of displacement up to 1500 HP not small engines like claimed here some do but most DON'T and second the top fuel dragster cars can accelerate for 0 to 100 KPH in 0.7 second and 0 to 500 KPH in bellow 4 seconds with 10000 HP engines that's is the real fastest acceleration of any cars in the world !
3:53 That tempered windshield made me cringe
6:50 Gordon Murray would like to have a word
says they use a Volvo T5, shows buggies powered by GM LS engines
I think the reason they cost so much is because somebody is stupid enough to pay that much.
what if a register a helicopter as a car and fly to the top?
Too much power strapped to old or 'traditional' technology. F1 Turbos in the 70's/80's had the same issue. The steering, tyre and materials tech wasnt there to make these vehicles safe, and it led to too many drivers and spectators dying so unfortunately they were banned. Would love to see this on-the-edge rallying come back in the modern day with modern technology. Just maximum power, but controllable this time instead of having barely restrained beasts.
Senna is a legend
I think it's not being cheating, it's innovating.
Funny thing, the guys in these rock bouncers, are my friends, and fellow racers. Pretty cool to see people you know on a channel you subscribe to about something completely different. Love it! Also, Bobby tanner is a Hero!
fucking genius explanation and insight. Subbed
Philippe Richer Pepin
You forgot that Thur dirt trow verticaly from the car pushthe car on the hill
That sound is magical music for my ears!!!
Really enjoy these videos about engineering in motorsports no matter how obscure. Thanks
Rui Manuel Marques Pinto
All good, but the real reason was the mass dumper, illegal mecanical front suspension controller, that allows the car bend on the inside of the courve, without it, he didn't win shit. All the rest, simple bullshit

Imagine if you placed a ramp it would be the fastest way to space.
Don't show him racing from the 60's or he will think is was made on the times of dinosaurs... 🤣
Group B: a category for men, drivers and spectators. HA! Even the female spectators were more manly than some drivers nowadays(We're looking at you, "bubba" smollet)
Isak Hindal Gjerstad
Have read some studies showing how seperating time and movement into segments is important for coordination. This can mean listening to a beat while driving, many racing games have all music set to roughly the same bpm. Drummers and conductors are definately doing this constantly, counting at a much higher rate than the listener would. And, maybe Senna got help from this too. As a extreme example: Try count to a minute in minutes instead of counting to 60 sec.
For whatever reason when I was learning to drive, I decided that left foot braking would be better and now Im teaching myself how you guys do it it feels so slow
So paddle tyres create thrust? Or am I misunderstand?
Absolutely love the off-road content as a lot of these principles are what you find in motocross, a cool video idea is your take on explaining motocross and supercross track layout
All Group B cars were amazing! Metro 205 Delta Quattro Manta. RS stuff!!
Ah yes formula ofroad
Too much verbal fluff
I hope that you guys will make a video on formula student cars!
Just ask an Icelander!!!
3:00 60 degrees? a full loaded HMMV could manage THAT - I'd hope that these specialized vehicles could do more like 70-80 degrees.
I notice that usually the rock climbers speed up before getting into the ramp, which resulting in momentum that pushes the car to the ground, creating more grip.
No mention of Mercedes? they cheat more than any other. first with illegal pirelli tyre tests (which first got them to the front) and then FRIC, DAS, etc etc.
Yves Van Aerschot
This is why Senna died in the ‘94 car. Downgrade the whole thing again...
Those AMZ cars are absolutely amazing. I‘m a mechanical engineering student at ETHZ and to see those things just blast of is astonishing. If all works well I‘ll be working on the 2022 Formula Student Car at ETH... fingers crossed
Just wondering. Are you an offspring of Nigel?
Why do you Say they are heavy cars? They weith about 1000 kgs. Modèrn WRC are 1230 kgs without liquids.
what is the name of the formula student team ?
AMZ Formula Student - they have loads on their channel
João Gabriel Mesquita Vilas Boas
Oh if you live in Belo Horizonte-MG, in Brazil, you do this daily driving around the town
Strange how the word "mil" seems to mean two things. Millimeter and millions of an inch. Mil seems to be big in the inch system since inch is so big that often is talked about a millions of an inch and there for call it mil. Where in the metric countries you never say mil unless you mean a million of an inch for example when dealing with circuit boards. You always say millimeter or micrometer (and maybe thousands of a millimeter) not mil when it is metric.
Correction: i think it's supposed to be RCos theta, not sine
Volvo never thought their engine will be used on a such unsafe car
How can such small engines make 1200HP??
How does it have that much power coming through the front wheels without encountering torque steer?
Just use a sawstop
IMHO this has been probably the most significant achievement from a electric car beating a combustion car ever. And that Pal Bunyan Machine driven by Paul Dallenbach was just awesome. Fortunately he survived the accident with minor injuries.
You can't ever defy physics
So the Mass Effect Mako was inspired by these huh
Uh oh people we have a time traveller! So hows the post apocalyptic world in the 2030's?
That should be cos (theta). Additionally, R or N is the normal force but it equals mg*cos(theta). Thus as the incline increases, theta approaches 90 degrees and mg*cos(theta) approaches zero.
