I think Niko has been in F1 long enough and should call it quits. He is a consistent driver, but lacks pace and chokes under pressure quite often. He got plenty of opportunities to prove himself, and whilst his team mates have gotten podiums and made the most of the opportunities when they have fallen into their laps, he seems to have found his comfort zone in the midfield. Right now, more than consistent points scorers, teams want someone like Perez or Gasly in their car, who can make the most out of unpredictable race situation and get the odd podiums and wins whenever possible. That is what boosts team morale. Unfortunately, I don't think Hulkenburg has what it takes to do that. He cannot out-drive his car anymore. I think he should look at other racing categories, F1 is not his cup of tea anymore.

Nico Hülkenberg is a very good Driver but he just has not got the Car under him to show his true Potential ! Same goes for Hamilton , put him in a Renault and Hülkenberg in the Mercedes and see !

He is a better driver and significantly more experienced than several full time drivers currently in F1

Hulk has full testing, and normal prep as a team driver in that car for 2020 = he would likely have multiple top 5s, and probably a podium.

Nico in my point of view is in the top 10 drivers. He barely makes any mistakes, which leads to consistent points for him and the team. He has a good understanding of the car and the know-how to talk to the engineers. Which leads to great improvement in development seen at Renault and Racing Point. The only thing he can not offer is a huge bank account, and he is only average with the media. But money comes from winning and PR from the podiums so not to shabey.

Hulkenberg had one big luck, the rest off the pack didnt have FP1 en FP2. The rest wasnt as prepared as usual. Not to downplay his performance, he did great and deserved DOTD.

Taking all things in consideration, Hulkenberg had a very impressive run at Nurburgring. All in all he is an excellent driver and I would love to see him in F1 next year!

Absolutely deserves a drive. We know why Stroll is in F1 and we know why Hulk is not. This is a classic example whereby money replaces talent.

It’s a travesty that Stroll has a seat but not Hulk. Clearly better instincts in a car.

I feel like the onus is really on Red Bull at this point to stop treating their juniors like they're on a conveyor belt. This is why they've now effectively run out of juniors with F1-valid super licenses. Alex should be the last time they ever do it. For Alex's benefit though it might be better for them to off Kvyat and put Albon back in the AlphaTauri seat (unless Gasly moves on to another team, in which case just put Alex in that seat instead) so he has a place where he can rebuild his confidence and bring Hulk in as Max's second. If that second seat is there just to score consistent points while Red Bull fap over their next big thing and put all their efforts into one driver like they've been doing since the Webber-Vettel days all they are going to do to their juniors they keep moving to the second seat is destroying their confidence as they fail to meet the standards because they've been moved up too soon. Daniil, Pierre and Alex have all been victim of this. Hulk though is in the later half of his career and is a proven consistent points scorer who has more talent in him than the cars he's driven suggest, can handle the pressure the role demands and probably not be under so much pressure because of his reputation. A perfect fit, really.

I think it was an amazing performance from Nico, who definitly deserve a top car, so I hope he gets the RB seat next year.

Good riddance. If he was gonna do something, he'd have done it by now. Verstappen, Ricciardo and Norris have all put in much more impressive drives this year.

Hülkenberg is a German driver and knows the tracks. He recently tested GT3 cars there.

And alongside the small amount of practice there's the small amount of pre-practice mental preparation, other drivers even drive the track on a simulator for some time to have the layout fresh in their memory before they even drive P1.

Although I think Albon deserves a seat in f1 he’s not ready for a top team. He needs a season or two at Renault or alpha tauri to ensure that he can properly compete against the big 3 ( Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen)

Alot of assumptions. One point of correction, the team set up the car to what they assumed the Hulk would like based on previous outings. So it was not another drivers setup.

If F1 worked the way most would want it to (pure talent, no finances on the drivers behalf) hulk should probably be sitting in the pink car alongside Perez every week...in reality hopefully he lands somewhere on the grid because he is a very talented individual who I think can still win in the right situation.

Really? Come on!!! He was driving the next best car and qualified 20th. Of course he would gain a lot of positions during the race. Any driver on the grid could do that, even after a months break. He's a solid driver, but not fast enough. And he wants too high a salary. I guess that's why he didn't get a seat for 2020. He would be a good and solid reserve driver for a team though.

If Ocon wasn’t French and didn’t have the iron fist of Toto behind him, Hulk would still be at Renault- and they’d likely be a strong third in the constructors’. But that’s F1. I’d like to see him at least get a seat at haas or even alpha tauri. Getting a Red Bull seat definitely wouldn’t showcase his skills. He’s good with a pointy car but Max is in a different league.

If he raced the first Silverstone race, he would probably be a lot closer to Ocon points wise through three races. A testament to the Tracing Point, and that Hulk is a good driver.

At what point did this fanaticism begin, this overvaluation for Hulkenberg? I mean, very good driver, no one doubts it, but two races (because one, the first in which he replaced Pérez, did not even start) and look, how you almost put it like he won the Championship. Hulk was able to adapt to the cars setup in a weekend, well people are still saying that Albon isn’t performing in the RB because it’s setup for Verstappen. 4:33 -- a question: I think you CAN'T extract all four tyres grip at all times. For sure, front/rear can be optimised between steering and throttle/brake inputs, shaping your curve right might even get left right balance modified, but you can't optimise front/rear on the outside, most important pair AND the same on the inside pair simultaneously. When the "weight" (CofG + g + acceleration vector) moves the load to the outside tyres you need to compromise on the inside. Hence why Schumacher in his hey-day commonly puffed smoke on the inside front - he gave up on that an maxed out the other three. Similarly under breaking a bit of brake balance + steering inputs will keep on the limit front and rear on entry, and careful curve shaping might keep the inside pair close to limit of adhesion on one of them, but again don't believe all four control is possible. My opinion as a physicist... :). If I'm wrong, I'm really interested to hear your response !
